The first case of official corruption is exposed. Corrupt officials Liu Qingshan and Zhang Zishan had swindled money from various construction projects and rationed food and incurred losses of 2.1 billion yuan of State funds amid the ongoing war and reconstruction. They are executed in February as a part of an anti-corruption campaign.
