With the successful opening of 2017 Hangzhou International Human Resources Exchanges and Cooperation Conference on Nov 8, the capital city of East China’s Zhejiang province is gaining steam in its new round of talent recruitment. 

The conference, aimed at showing Hangzhou’s open and dynamic environment for startups and attracting high-caliber people from home and abroad to settle in the city, greeted over 3,000 attendees at the opening ceremony, including 498 invited professionals from 27 countries and regions. 

Over 1,500 startup projects related to information, biomedicine, high-end equipment manufacturing and financial services have been invited to the three-day conference for in-depth exchanges and cooperation. 

So far, agreements on 206 projects with a total contract volume of 2.93 billion yuan ($442.1 million) have been reached, bringing in a group of projects in advanced industries. 

Assorted events are scheduled to take place during the conference including a competition for innovative projects and startups as well as forums on different topics. 

The invited professionals and project holders will visit industrial parks in Hangzhou to have a comprehensive understanding of the city’s industrial characteristics. 

“Hangzhou is working hard to build a highland for talent,” said Yao Zhiwen, deputy head of the organization department of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. Yao announced that Hangzhou’s net inflow rate of job-seekers has dwarfed all other Chinese cities, providing strong intellectual support to its modernization construction. 

The Hangzhou International Human Resources Exchanges and Cooperation Conference, first initiated in 2009, has welcomed 3,723 international high-end professionals and over 100 associations of overseas Chinese students to take part and witnessed the successful signing of 937 projects over the past eight years.
