Wuxi entertains 3 million visitors during Spring Festival

More than 3 million tourists visited local tourist sites in Wuxi, Jiangsu province during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, an increase of 1.3 percent from last year, according to the Wuxi Municipal Tourism Bureau.

The city's tourism revenue for the holiday reached 3.45 billion yuan ($0.54 billion), up 4.7 percent from last year.

Several of Wuxi's biggest tourism resorts organized special activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year and attract more visitors during the holiday.

Water Margin City and Three Kingdoms City, both famous as filming locations for movies and TV shows, took advantage of the traditional Chinese New Year to organize events which transport visitors back in time to ancient China.

It has become tradition for Wuxi locals and tourists to visit the city's Plum Garden during Spring Festival and enjoy its beautiful and fragrant flowers. This year's Plum Festival featured a series of plum-themed exhibitions and cultural exchange activities.

Ancient towns in Huishan and Dangkou staged dragon dance performances, magic shows and Chinese opera performances, which attracted many tourists and allowed them to soak in the atmosphere of Spring Festival.

A noticeable trend this year was the rising popularity of self-catered tourism and trips to rural locations.

Yangshan town in Wuxi and the Sea of Bamboo in Yixing provided tourists with views of nature and an authentic taste of the Spring Festival. The "all-for-one tourism" model in Wuxi provided tourists with high-quality tourist products and services.

The government also stepped up its security and emergency response capabilities throughout the holiday to ensure visitors could enjoy a safe and pleasant environment during their stay in Wuxi.

Wuxi has ranked first on the Jiangsu Provincial Tourist Satisfaction list three years in a row. The city will continue to develop its "all-for-one tourism" model to optimize resource allocation and integrate its tourism industry.
