   Chinese mountaineers Wang Fuzhou (right), Kunbo (middle) and Qu Yinhua are welcomed with flowers after they conquered the summit on June 7, 1960. The trio made their first trip to Mount Qomolangma, known as Mount Everest in the West, from the North Slope On May 25, 1960. This was the first time that somebody had ascended the world’s highest peak from the North Slope. Since then, more Chinese mountaineers were inspired to march toward Mount Qomolangma.
