BEIJING -- The Chinese government has sent disaster-relief supplies to quake-hit areas of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
The supplies were transported to Tonghai county and other affected areas and included 3,000 tents, 12,000 foldaway beds, quilts, and clothes, the Ministry of Emergency Management said in a statement.
A total of 24 people were injured and more than 39,000 residents evacuated after two 5.0-magnitude earthquakes jolted four county-level regions of Yunnan in the early hours of Monday and Tuesday.
An emergency workgroup from the ministry is currently in Tonghai to assist with local disaster-relief efforts.
