Sanya, Hainan province was ranked among 2018's top 10 most influential Chinese tourism cities, according to the Annual Meeting of China's Tourism Industry 2019 held in Beijing on Jan 23.
The city's Haitang Bay National Seashore was selected as one of the top 10 most influential holiday resorts of 2018 and Atlantis Sanya Marine Tourism Complex was listed among the top 10 domestic theme parks.
A Dong, deputy secretary of the Sanya municipal Party committee and mayor of Sanya, said that Sanya would take proactive measures to foster consumption-driven tourism while also emphasizing environmental protection. In order to turn Sanya into a world-class seaside attraction, hard work and creativity are needed to explore ways of increasing tourism consumption.
Four hundred participants took part in the annual meeting, in which people looked back on the city's tourism development in 2018 and anticipated the city's future. Attendees called for comprehensive cooperation in order to produce better results.
The activity was approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, supervised by the China Newspaper Association, sponsored by the China Tourism News Agency and supported by the Institute of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
