Pampers eases Spring Festival travel rush for young families

As the Spring Festival draws near, hundreds of millions of Chinese studying or working away from their hometowns are rushing home for the annual reunion with their families.

While this time of year is all about being merry and festive and spending time with the ones you love, it also means of course that you may need to travel to get home to your family. Traveling with children can be a challenge, especially during the holiday hustle and bustle when parents are entangled with bags of baby products, irregular feeding needs and the seemingly endless crying of their babies.

P&G’s diaper brand Pampers recognizes the difficulties that parents travelling with babies face, and so it has launched a series of services covering airports, subways and railways in many cities and provinces across the country to improve their travel experience during the Spring Festival travel rush, which started from Jan 21.

All-round services at airports

As more and more families choose to fly back home, Pampers, together with the Chinese leading child care company Bb-Running, are providing tailored services for babies and their parents at Guangzhou and Chengdu international airports.

After booking the travel services from WeChat, the families are entitled to a wide range of exclusive services upon arriving at the airport, including check-in and baggage claiming by professional staff, quick and exclusive security checks and above all, well-equipped nursing room facilities with star product diapers of Pampers and devices which can, amongst other things, intelligently adjust the water temperature for babies.

Other than that, there are also professional baby carers who can take care of the babies at the nursing room, which helps to minimize the travel stress of parents and give them a break during the trip.

“There are a lot of aspects that require additional attention when you travel with kids during the travel rush of Spring Festival, such as diaper changes in a crowded public place,” said Mr Gan with twins, adding that the well-equipped nursing rooms and professional carers have relieved a big burden for him and his wife.

Provide babies a comfortable journey home

In the cities of Guangzhou and Beijing, tailored car services for child-bearing families are also available during the travel rush, which can be ordered via the app.

In terms of the subway, Shanghai has set up nursery rhyme themed subways where passengers can play the nursery rhymes in Shanghai dialects by scanning the QR code on the posters in the cabin or on the waiting platforms.

“It is expected that such services can bring convenience and reduce the travel burden for families with children and I hope that more and more people will join us and give these families more understanding and support so that they can have a pleasant and smooth voyage back home,” said a senior Pampers representative at P&G Greater China.
