Prosecutors work with schools to improve law awareness, security
BEIJING -- A total of 17,300 Chinese prosecutors are helping promote student awareness of the law by teaching in middle and high schools across the country, according to a senior prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
They give lessons to teachers and students on a regular basis and help in compiling textbooks and formulating teaching programs on relevant issues for the schools, said Shi Weizhong, chief of a department for juvenile prosecution under the SPP, at a press conference Monday on the protection of juveniles.
They also assist the schools in correction work for delinquent students, Shi said.
Shi said that since 2018, prosecutorial agencies nationwide had carried out over 50,000 lectures on rule of law in schools and colleges, covering over 38 million teachers and students.
The SPP is also working with the Ministry of Education to promote school security, according to Shi.
