Electronic information manufacturing industry output jumps 9%

The output of China's electronic information manufacturing industry jumped 9 percent year-on-year in the first four months of this year, said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Tuesday.

Data from the ministry showed that the sector's output in April witnessed an increase of 12.4 percent year-on-year, up 2.2 percentage points compared to the previous month.

During the first four months of 2019, the sector also registered increases in both revenue and export value, which soared by 6.1 and 4.9 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The output for telecom equipment manufacturing, in particular, increased by 8.6 percent compared to that of last year.

However, ministry data also showed that the country's mobile phone output shrank by 10.9 percent year-on-year in the period.
