Shanghai theater offers English-language musicals for year-end festivities
The SAIC Shanghai Culture Square has announced its offerings for the coming Christmas and New Year season.
Three English language musical productions will be presented at Shanghai's prime musical theater respectively from Nov 27 to Jan 14, 2020: Titanic the Musical; Matilda and Dream Girls.
Titanic the Musical will be performed in Shanghai from Nov 27 to Dec 1.
It was premiered on Broadway of New York in 1997. And it won five Tony Awards that year including the best musical award, and the best score.
The musical was released in the same year as James Cameron's blockbuster film of the same title, about the ocean liner Titanic which sank on its maiden voyage.
However, according to actor Matthew Crowe and Chris Jenkins, the musical tells more stories, and is more interesting.
