Shanghai's Baoshan district set to become world-class cruise hub
The Baoshan district of Shanghai is set to develop itself into one of the world's top ports for cruise liners in the coming years as it aims to create a cruise industrial chain with a value exceeding 100 billion yuan, said a deputy chief of the district.
Since Shanghai's plan to build the nation's first cruise tourism demonstration area was approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Baoshan, which is home to the Wusongkou Cruise Port, has started shifting its focus to the cruise industry.
"Baoshan district will focus on improving its service capability, product innovation, construction and design development to help Wusongkou Cruise Port become one of the world's top three cruise liner ports," said Su Ping, deputy director of Baoshan district.
Su added that the district will spend at least 100 million yuan annually to support the development of its cruise industry.
