Guangzhou breaks ground on 66 projects
Construction on a total of 66 new projects officially kicked off in the Guangzhou Development District and the Guangzhou New and High-Tech Development Zone in Guangdong province after online ceremonies were held on Friday.
Launch ceremonies for the key projects in the South China metropolis were broadcast live online via 5G technologies, according to a statement released by the Guangzhou Development District on Friday.
The projects involving new high-tech sectors, bio-medicine, energy, education, agriculture, artificial intelligence, culture and semiconductors are expected to play an important role in the economic development and scientific innovation of Guangdong, window of China's reform and opening up, in the years ahead, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Guangzhou Development District and the Guangzhou New and High-Tech Development Zone signed contracts on Friday for another 20 projects to be constructed in the district in the months ahead. The projects mainly involve high-end manufacturing, medicine, intelligent terminals, finance, logistics, information, software and network technologies, said the statement.
Located in eastern Guangzhou, the Guangzhou Development District and the Guangzhou New and High-Tech Development Zone have become new scientific and technology innovation centers attracting a growing number of new and high-tech companies from home and abroad, the statement said.
