On June 6, Liang Fan, a 27-year-old barista from Chongqing, won the top prize at the 2020 China Latte Art Championship and a chance to compete in the world championship in mid-October in Warsaw, Poland.
In latte art, a cup of coffee is prepared by pouring microfoam into espresso, and a pattern is created on the surface.
In the final round of the event in Shanghai, Liang finished three sets of latte patterns: a giraffe, a kangaroo and a panda. The vivid pictures helped him win the national title for the third time. He was also the winner in 2017 and 2018.
He runs a small coffee shop with a friend in Chongqing. To prepare for the match, Liang had trained for two months, sometimes making more than 300 cups a day.
