New book recalls president's years of work in Fuzhou

A book recollecting President Xi Jinping's experiences working in Fuzhou, Fujian province, in the 1990s has been released by the publishing house of the Party School of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The book, titled Xi Jinping in Fuzhou, documents Xi's leadership style and the great changes in Fuzhou and features transcripts of 23 interviews with local officials who tell stories of Xi when he served as the Party secretary of Fuzhou from April 1990 to 1996.

They recalled how Xi led efforts to develop the economy in the area near the estuary of the Minjiang River in Fujian, bolster the maritime sector, protect Fuzhou's cultural heritage and renovate aging areas of the city.

Xi also paid close attention to people's livelihoods, instructed officials to engage more with the grassroots and emphasized the improvement of administrative efficiency, according to the interviews.
