Michael Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization's Health Emergencies Programme, said the COVID-19 pandemic is "a wake-up call" for possible worse emergency situation in the future. "We must honour those we've lost by getting better at what we do every day," he said on Monday during the last WHO press conference this year.
