The significance of spreading the use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills and the installation of automated external defibrillators has become a consensus shared by the whole society. However, the high incidence of cardiovascular diseases in the country highlights the need to devote more efforts to enhancing training of first-aid skills among the public. We suggest Jan 20 be designated National First Aid Day to raise public awareness on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and accelerate the installation of AED machines in public spaces.
