Pop-up CPC history bookstore launched
A pop-up bookstore themed around the Communist Party of China was launched by Shanghai Century Publishing Group, Sinan Mansions and several other institutions in Shanghai on Friday, to mark World Literature Day.
The bookstore is located on the plaza next to Yuyangli, a former residential complex on Huaihai Road where the Chinese Communist Youth League was founded in 1920 and home to the former editorial department of the periodical La Juenesse, also known as New Youth. Open through July 31, it is displaying 1,000 books and 100 cultural and creative products related to the Party's development.
Activities featuring experts, scholars and writers will be held at the store regularly during this period.
"It's an innovative way of teaching people about the Party's history and promoting the culture of reading among residents," said Gao Yun, secretary of the CPC Shanghai Huangpu district committee.
Other events, such as a virtual reality experience of the Party's history and markets selling creative products, will also be held at venues including Fudan University and Shanghai University of Sport.
Regular tours of landmarks related to the Party in Shanghai will be available the following week, starting on Saturday.
