Latvian enjoys charms of ancient town in Guizhou

Smirnova Anzelika, an internet celebrity from Latvia, got a taste of Bouyei ethnic culture on Sunday during the "A Date with China" international media tour to Qingyan Ancient Town in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The ancient town, located 29 kilometers from the city center of Guiyang, is one of the province's four major ancient towns. It has a history of about 600 years and features exquisite buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911).

Anzelika, in the Bouyei traditional costume, said she felt like she was part of the beautiful place. She also learned to sing Red Flower, a folk song of Guizhou, ahead of the trip.

Walking down the alley, Anzelika enjoyed the tranquil beauty of the ancient town.

Anzelika speaks fluent Chinese and has been working in China as a TV hostess for years. A Tianjin TV director discovered her talent in hosting TV programs during a Chinese language competition among foreigners.
