Job market stable but some groups still having difficulties

The domestic job market has remained stable for the past seven months, although some key groups, such as migrant workers and college graduates, still have trouble finding work.

The latest figures from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security show that about 8.2 million new jobs were created in urban areas from January to July, up 23 percent year-on-year. 

Unemployment has fallen steadily since February, when it stood at around 5.5 percent, to 5.1 percent in July, a decline of 0.6 percentage points year-on-year. 

According to the ministry, groups still experiencing difficulties in finding jobs are being affected by fallout from unbalanced economic development and the pandemic.

It said that more tailored policies and resources will be channeled to help revitalize employment in the near future.

In addition, measures focusing on skill training and incubating startups will be bolstered. College graduates and migrant workers remain the key groups receiving aid from administrative units in terms of getting access to job information and protecting their working rights.
