Medtronic to showcase 60 cutting-edge products at CIIE

Medical technology company Medtronic announced on Friday that it will exhibit more than 60 world-class medical technology innovations at this year's China International Import Expo that will be held in Shanghai in early November.

These exhibits will cover seven areas, namely, heart and blood vessels, innovative surgery, smart medicine, nerve and spine surgery, digestion and liver, kidney health, and critical medicine, and will display global medical technology trends of intelligence, digitalization, and minimal invasiveness, said the company.

Blockbuster exhibits will include an atrial fibrillation ablation system that will make its Asia-Pacific debut, the slimmest stent yet on global market, and the world's first deep brain neurostimulator that can automatically recognize brain disease conditions.

"The China market has become a global focus, and we're fully confident in the long-term market prospects of China's medical industry," said Alex Gu, senior vice-president of Medtronic and president of Medtronic Greater China.

"Through participating in the 4th CIIE, we look forward to seizing new opportunities in the China market under the new development pattern, bringing more cutting-edge therapies and technologies into China, and improving their accessibility," he said.

The company said that some exhibits from the past editions of CIIE have already benefited Chinese patients. For example, more than 2,500 patients in China have been implanted with the world's smallest leadless cardiac pacemaker, a star exhibit during the inaugural CIIE in 2018.
