China anticipates move to top spot in low-code development

China is expected to overtake the United States in low-code development as companies are embracing the technology for a faster turn to digitalization, according to an industry report released on Tuesday.

The report said China's low-code market has shown rapid growth, as 85 percent of the country's IT leaders said they are actively embracing low-code technology and believe it is a trend they can't afford to miss.

Although the United States still ranked first, the Chinese market is expected to quickly overtake the United States as the global leader in low-code adoption thanks to its vigorous development and forward-looking efforts.

The findings are part of the State of Low-Code 2021 research by Mendix, a global leader in low-code application development, and 2,025 IT leaders and developers from around the world participated in the survey.

According to the report, 59 percent of China IT leaders say the pace of digital disruption during the pandemic has been greater than expected, and companies are gradually realizing the software development model they are accustomed to can no longer meet growing demand.

Therefore, about 89 percent of China's organizations using low-code say they have used low-code more since the pandemic, which is higher than the United States and Europe, which hit 83 and 78 percent, respectively.

Up to 93 percent of China IT professionals agree the pace of software development is going to accelerate, a higher figure than the 90 percent of the United States and much higher than the 74 percent of Europe.
