DHL CEO: Our China biz reflects opening-up success

This year marks the 20th anniversary of China's entry into WTO. Today, China has become a significant trading partner with the most of the world.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China introduced a grand plan to establish the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which brings several cities and two SARs together. The tremendous flow of interactions and collaborations among the cities and with the global markets bring strong demand to logistics to connect them with the world. The investment made to strengthen the logistics infrastructure in the area will generate multiple effects and benefits.

In 2018, DHL Express established a gateway in Zhuhai, making it the first international express service provider to set up a presence in the city. Leveraging the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge, the new gateway substantially reduces the express transportation from the west of the Pearl River to Hong Kong from four hours to 45 minutes. Besides, DHL Express has also expanded its gateway in Guangzhou to increase cargo handling capacity and operational efficiency. And the DHL Express Hong Kong Hub has also been under expansion to capture the strong demand created by the Greater Bay Area.
