When a 3-day book fair with a traditional Chinese theme ended at the Guiyang Confucius Academy, on Oct 18, in the city of Guiyang, Guizhou province it garnered a lot of praise, with some people saying that it was the first chance they'd ever had to experience traditional Chinese culture.

Another enthusiast, Wang Ying, a college student, remarked, "The depth of obscure Chinese books that are out of my reach has changed my mind about traditional literature," then went on to describe her fondness for classics such as the Book of Songs and the Chuang Tzu, a work of Taoism.
The fair had thousands of traditional Chinese works in the 5,000-square-meter academy area, which, according to the organizer, with at 5-million yuan worth ($790,000) being sold.
There were also 70 related activities at the fair that drew praise from the visitors, with the lectures and paintings giving the greatest pleasure to an elderly visitor named Song, who described the event as meaningful and a great place for people to learn about traditional culture
The book fair could give Guizhou a solid foundation as a place where people can get to know Chinese culture better. .
