Chinese brand, designer join forces for flag bearer outfits
Chinese fashion brand Cabbeen has teamed with pioneering Chinese designer Wang Fengchen to create the Olympic flag bearer costume.
The flag bearer's outfit is a combination of a blue and white printed jacket and a white Chinese-style suit.
The jacket boasts a design featuring a classic Chinese landscape painting that not only shows the vast rivers and rolling hills of the time, but also symbolizes the integration and connection between man and nature. Wang applies gradient colors on the jacket while embedding the art form of line drawing to paint representative Chinese historical buildings and Olympic landmarks, outlining the connection between history and modernity.
The deconstructed suit is complemented by Western-styled tailoring and embellished with classic elements such as Chinese traditional frog fasteners and stand-up collars, giving it a unique and modern sense while reinventing tradition.
