Xi, Harris have brief talk
President Xi Jinping had a brief talk with US Vice-President Kamala Harris on Saturday while attending the 29th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.
Xi said that his meeting with US President Joe Biden in Bali, Indonesia was of strategic significance and was constructive. Xi added that the meeting was also important in guiding China-US relations into its next stages.
He expressed his hope that both sides would enhance mutual understanding, reduce miscalculation and misjudgment, and jointly push for the bilateral ties to return to the track of healthy and stable development. It is hoped that Harris would play a positive role for this purpose, he added.
Harris spoke of the successful meeting between the two heads of state. The US doesn't seek confrontation or conflict with China, and both countries need to develop cooperation on global issues and maintain smooth channels for communication, she said.
