The world's biggest blade for wind turbines is being produced in the city of Baotou, located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The 100-meter-long blade is made at the blade production plant in the Mingyang New Energy Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park in Baotou.

The product is used to drive onshore super-large wind turbines that are deployed at wind power parks in China's deserts.

"After being modified and painted, you can imagine it standing in the boundless deserts in China," said Shen Qinchao, the factory's director.

In addition to the blade production plant, the industrial park is in the process of building an onshore super large wind power machine manufacturing plant, an intelligent electrical supporting equipment manufacturing plant, as well as a national onshore wind turbine comprehensive test and certification center.

On completion, the plants and institutions will jointly form a research and development, manufacturing, operation and support center in the city – with the biggest onshore wind power manufacturing capacity and the highest concentration of core components in China.

It is expected that this will help Baotou to build a national and even an international new energy industry hub.

"Once the whole project is put into production, it will be able to generate 18.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in a green way in one year," said Zhang Zhonghai, vice president of the park operator, Mingyang Group.
