Key platform recording experience and history

The Chinese American Museum in Washington was established in 2017, the only Chinese museum in Washington, DC, the United States.

Located in downtown Washington, 800 meters from the White House, the museum is a four-floor hall with a permanent exhibition area — a picture wall displaying 200 photos that tell stories of Chinese Americans — on the first floor and three zones for regular displays.

Over the past few years, the museum has been committed to collecting, preserving, researching and displaying the history and culture of Chinese Americans. It has also told and recorded the stories and experiences of Chinese in the US and spread traditional Chinese culture. Finally, it has promoted the exchanges of history and culture between the two countries.

The museum has held more than 15 high-quality exhibitions with different themes.

The exhibits include artworks from China and the US, antique documents, calligraphy and paintings and clothing, attracting more than 15,0000 visitors from all over the world.

Since 2020, the museum has made 60 videos for online activities. Last year, the museum held 20 online seminars and five exhibitions with various themes, attracting more than 10,000 visitors.

The museum hopes to encourage Chinese Americans to show themselves proudly and tell their own stories.

In the middle of the first floor, there is a touch screen to browse the history of Chinese Americans.

At the end of the permanent exhibition on the first floor is a small theater for playing various discipline films and audio-visual materials.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, from the end of January to the beginning of February, the museum held the "Welcome to the New Year "lantern exhibition and Chinese New Year cultural display activities in cooperation with the Embassy of China in the US and the John F.Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Other key exhibitions included the Enchanting Stitches& Stories at the beginning of the year, China from China: Porcelain and Stories of Early American Trade, Words Re-Examined: Contemporary Calligraphy by Four Artists, Dora Fugh Lee: A Lifetime of Art and Taoism: Pursuing Harmony Between Human and Nature.
