Minister emphasizes openness with French executives

Opening-up is a State policy of China and the country will unwaveringly promote high-level opening-up to deepen cooperation in global industrial and supply chains, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said on Friday.

China is willing to create an enabling business climate and services for foreign enterprises from all over the world to develop in the country, Wang said.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Guillaume Faury, CEO of French aircraft maker Airbus. They also discussed issues regarding the company's investment projects and future development in China.

On Thursday, while meeting with senior French corporate executives accompanying French President Emmanuel Macron on his visit to China, Wang encouraged French enterprises to take a long-run view to continuously expand investment in China, oppose "decoupling and breaking chains" and safeguard the stability of the industrial and supply chains between China and Europe.

China's path to modernization will bring new opportunities to enterprises from all over the world, including French enterprises, the minister said, stressing China will unswervingly expand opening-up and is willing to work with the European side to create a fairer, more transparent, and more predictable business environment for two-way investment between China and the European Union.

Wang also exchanged views with the executives on issues such as expanding China's imports of high-quality products from France, facilitating flows between the two countries, strengthening bilateral cultural exchanges and aligning product standards between China and the EU.

The executives involved included those from BNP Paribas, Schneider Electric, and Michelin Group.
