Rizhao shines at photography week

Rizhao, a coastal city of Shandong province, has recently garnered significant attention with its news photography week, showcasing the city's rich culture, natural landscapes, and economic development.

The sixth China (Rizhao) News Photography Week, which kicked off on May 24, includes a photography exhibition for the national mainstream media outlets; the China News Photography Summit Forum; and a series of activities focusing on the city's green, low-carbon and high-quality development.

"As I was walking around, I was captured by a specific photograph," said Gitau Recheal Mugure, an overseas student from Kenya when she visited the photography exhibition at the Juguo Ancient Town, where the opening ceremony for the event was held.

"This is about the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway that China and Kenya collaborated in building. It makes me feel proud that something about my country is in the beautiful city of Rizhao," Recheal said.

She joined a Rizhao trip from May 24 to 25 with four expats from Pakistan and Canada, which is also a part of the Rizhao photography week.

"Rizhao is a very beautiful city. It was definitely not how I imagined it. What I love about the Juguo Ancient Town is that it has maintained a rich aspect of Chinese culture and history. The pavilions are so beautiful, and the people I met were so cordial," she added.

During the trip, the group also visited the city's Fulaiqing Tea Plantation where they experienced the city's green tea culture, the Fulai Mountain and also Juzhou Museum.

In recent years, Rizhao has delighted tourists from both home and abroad with its picturesque coastline scenery, rich culture and ecological environment.

"Rizhao is a coastal city known for its beautiful beaches and scenic spots such as Wanpingkou Beach, Rizhao Beach Forest Park and the Rizhao Seaside National Forest Park. It's also famous for its seafood," said Kabeer Haroon Ali from Pakistan who is working at the Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology.

The annual Rizhao photography week has provided a platform for the world to showcase the city's cultural and economic strength, helping the city to enhance its international influence.
