Former energy executive expelled from Party

Li Dong, a former deputy general manager of the CHN Energy Investment Group, was expelled from the Communist Party of China on Wednesday for serious violations of Party discipline and national laws.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a statement that Li had lost his ideals and convictions and made every effort to resist the Party organization's inspection. He violated the eight-point decisions on improving Party and government conduct by attending banquets, accepting the arrangement of travel, playing golf and receiving gifts and money.

Li also engaged in power and money trading with the name of "investment" and "agent", and used his position to help others in product sales and business operations. Then he received a large amount of property in return.

Li, 63, once worked in different positions at China Shenhua Energy Company, which is a coal-based energy listed company under the CHN Energy Investment Group.

Li became the deputy general manager of the group in November 2017 and retired in March 2020. He was subject to investigation in February this year.

The statement said that Li's case had been handed over to procuratorial organs for prosecution.
