BYD debuts at Tokyo's new motor show

China's leading electric carmaker BYD is showcasing five new energy vehicle models and core technologies at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show, becoming the first Chinese automaker to participate in the history of the event.

Starting on Thursday, the Japan Mobility Show 2023 The event, which opened on Oct 26, will run until Nov 5 at Tokyo Big Sight, the largest international exhibition center in Japan.

The inaugural edition of the Japan Mobility Show features the participation of not only the automotive industry but also of established companies and startups from multiple other sectors whose activities extend beyond mobility.

A total of 475 enterprises are participating in the event, far exceeding the 192 companies that took part in the final edition of the Tokyo Motor Show in 2019, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, the organizer of the event.

The BYD SEAL, a pure electric sporty sedan, which is set for its Japan launch in spring 2024, became a focal point of the show. BYD ATTO 3, a compact electric crossover sport utility vehicle, and the electric hatchback BYD Dolphin, both of which have been launched in Japan, also drew considerable interest.
