The Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone – located in East China's Shanghai – is emerging as a major center for intelligent vehicles and advanced automotive chips. 
The region has made formidable progress in the development of electric vehicles, or EVs and intelligent transportation systems. In 2022, the output value of intelligent new energy vehicles in the Lin-gang Special Area reached 263.4 billion yuan ($36.95 billion). 
Notably, the area is home to major operations of renowned companies – like Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory and SAIC Motor's Lin-gang factory – which have contributed to a dynamic industry supply chain, both upstream and downstream. 
With its vision of creating an intelligent automotive eco-city, Lin-gang aims to be at the forefront of the next generation of automotive chips and consolidate its position as a global leader in the automotive industry.

However, he said he was bullish about the capacity planning in place. Lin-gang's development of intelligent new energy vehicles positions it at the apex of the future car's core architecture, Zhang added. 
He also emphasized that Lin-gang's unique competitive advantages and industrial integration would be crucial in building the Lin-gang Intelligent Automotive Eco-City.
