The five-day 2023 Zhuhai Fashion Week opened on Dec 15 with a series of fashion shows that bridge the past and the future, striving to promote the charm of Zhuhai's fashion industry to a wider audience.

This year's event aims to further develop Zhuhai's fashion influence and promote the high-quality development of the fashion industry.

Tan Jing, head of the publicity department of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, said that Zhuhai will use the event to accelerate the gathering of outstanding design companies and talents. Through fashion shows and exhibitions, the city will promote the continuous emergence of innovative achievements and designs, as well as promote the prosperous development of the fashion and cultural industries in Zhuhai.

Zhang Zhaoda, the opening show's designer, grew up in Zhongshan and Zhuhai and is currently the honorary chairman of the Beijing Fashion Association and the chairman of the China Committee of the Asian Fashion Federation. 

For the opening show, Zhang drew inspiration from Pacific culture, local fashion elements in Zhuhai, and Chinese street fashion, all the while blending traditional and modern design elements. The show showcased the cultural diversity and natural beauty of the broader Pacific region. It also highlighted Zhuhai's role as a bridge connecting the rest of the world with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's fashion and culture sectors. 

"Zhuhai has abundant resources as well as deep roots in the fashion industry in Hong Kong and Macao. With close connections to the international community, I believe new lifestyles, new behavioral patterns, and new cultural concepts will emerge from this event," added Zhang.
