Guiyang: An ideal place to avoid summer heat

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is home to countless mountains and parks, and has a pleasant climate. In addition, it provides preferential tourism policies and various road concerts for summer tourism.

According to Wang Junjun, a senior engineer at the Guiyang meteorological observatory, despite global warming, Guiyang's summer weather from June to August has been considered "comfortable" every day in the period for the past 10 years, with 81 days considered "most comfortable", accounting for 88 percent of the total.

According to monitoring data from the past decade (2014-23), the average summer temperature in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area was 22.9 C.

The number of days with a maximum temperature above 30 C ranged from 10 to 31 days, and there were only one to two instances in which the maximum temperature above 30 C for five consecutive days or more. High temperature weather (defined as temperatures at 35 C and above) was almost non-existent.

Monitoring data shows that the average relative humidity in Guiyang and Gui'an during summer is 80.2 percent, making it a particularly suitable place to live for middle-aged and elderly people.

According to medical research, the suitable atmospheric pressure range for human survival is between 750 and 950 hectopascals. Over the past decade, the average summer atmospheric pressure in Guiyang was 873.5 hPa, indicating stable atmospheric pressure conditions that are highly suitable for summer tourism.

In summer, Guiyang's average wind speed is 2.3 meters per second, providing good ventilation and heat dissipation conditions. The wind force is around 2 on the Beaufort scale, which is considered a light breeze.

According to data from physiological hygiene laboratories, the suitable altitude for human survival is between 500 and 2,000 meters. The average altitude of Guiyang is 1,100 meters, with most areas falling within the aforementioned range, and thus suitable for tourists of all ages.

Guiyang is located at 106 degrees east longitude and 26 degrees north latitude. Twenty-six degrees north latitude is the location of the most beautiful scenic belt on Earth.
