Zhoushan has introduced China's first wireless charging system for ships, a breakthrough developed by State Grid Zhoushan Co.

This innovative system significantly reduces ship emissions during anchorage, transforming them into mobile power sources that can assist other vessels in receiving power anywhere in the anchorage area.

Traditionally, ships at docks used direct electrical connections, a process that was time-consuming and less efficient. With cables needing to pass through other ships for power supply, issues such as wear, leakage, and low reliability were common.

The new wireless charging system, with a rated power of 30 kilowatts and a maximum device power of 120 kilowatts, boasts an impressive 97.6 percent efficiency in power transmission, the highest in the country.

Featuring cutting-edge technology like large-capacity coupling coils and high thermal conductivity materials, this system ensures enhanced safety and efficiency. Its waterproof and salt spray-resistant design, with an IP67 rating for the wireless power transmission part, makes it ideal for sea environments with high salt content and tides.

Looking ahead, State Grid Zhoushan Co plans to develop smaller and lighter wireless transmission equipment tailored for different vessels. By promoting this technology in the port and ship shore power industry, it aims to contribute to the creation of environmentally-friendly and sustainable ports.
