As part of the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival, Belt and Road Film Week kicked off at the Shendi Cultural Center in the Shanghai International Tourist Resort, attracting over 40 international filmmakers and more than 20 domestic and foreign film institutions from 18 countries and regions.

Featuring a diverse range of film types and styles, this event received over 100 film submissions, 18 of which were chosen for public screening. Six of these screenings will go on tour in six cinemas throughout the Yangtze River Delta region.

Jin Mei, executive deputy director of the Management Committee of the tourist resort, said that this film week not only brings rich cultural content and popularity to the resort, but also propels the development of the resort's film and television industry. Currently, the resort has gathered more than 150 film and television-related enterprises, covering post-production, filming, and distribution, all of which form a comprehensive film and television industry ecosystem.

Belt and Road Film Week has become an integral part of the Shanghai International Film Festival. In contrast to previous editions, which focused on film screenings and filmmaker exchanges, this year's film week also included a Latin American carnival that combined film screenings, music, and cuisine.

From June 15 to June 18, attendees not only got to enjoy acclaimed films from countries like Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Chile, but also indulged in authentic Latin American cuisine and cultural performances at Shanghai's Bicester Village.
