After experiencing the peak visits during the summer vacation period, Shanghai Museum East has announced a trial run of reservation-free entries for individual visitors starting Sept 15.

The initiative by the museum in Shanghai, aims to streamline the entry process and enhance accessibility for visitors looking to explore the museum's exhibitions and cultural offerings.

Individual visitors wishing to enter Shanghai Museum East will now be able to do so without prior bookings. They are required to bring their valid identification documents and proceed through the east entrance, located on B1 floor after passing through a security check.

An accessible path has been designated for visitors aged over 65, individuals with disabilities, soldiers and medical professionals at the north gate on the first floor to ensure convenience and ease of access.

For group visitors consisting of 20 people or more, reservations must be made through telephone calls made 7-14 days prior to the planned visit.

Limited vacancies are available for group visits and entry for these visitors will be facilitated through the north gate on the first floor of the museum.

To manage visitor flows efficiently, the museum may implement temporary controls based on the maximum capacity of individual exhibition halls.

Entry requirements could be subject to change depending on the arrangements of exhibitions and visitor traffic within the museum premises.

Officials say it is important to note that certain sections of the museum, such as the Digital Gallery on the second floor and Curio-city, will still require reservations made through the WeChat mini program of the Shanghai Museum.

Visitors are advised to plan their visits accordingly and stay informed about any updates or changes in entry procedures.
