State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company employ 'combined approach' to ensure reliable power supply

Recently, at the autumn centralized maintenance site in Suqian, Jiangsu province, maintenance personnel from the State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company installed interphase spacers on overhead lines to ensure the stable operation of the lines during the winter peak season.

In recent years, the State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company has been focusing on grassroots teams and frontline sites, ensuring the safety of personnel, equipment and the power grid. By establishing "operation, inspection and emergency response" stations, installing night-time anti-vandalism warning lights and implementing anti-galloping spacer bars, among other measures, the company has enhanced safety levels, thereby comprehensively ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid.

Influenced by its geographical environment, Suqian experiences frequent severe convective weather. In February this year, Suqian faced two widespread and persistent disasters of rain, snow and freezing temperatures, posing stringent demands on the power grid's disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities. To address this, the State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company comprehensively overhauled its emergency command and organizational structure, fine-tuned the medium and low voltage operation and maintenance approach in rural regions, established suburban rapid repair hubs and advanced the standardized and digital management of grid stations in five townships, including Daxing and Nancai in Suqian. The strategy aims to expedite repair times and enhance repair efficiency. Furthermore, the company has embarked on a three-year initiative to bolster the power grid's resilience against disasters. This involves a range of measures, including anti-galloping treatments, as well as the implementation of standardized designs for wind, lightning and flood mitigation, all aimed at minimizing power outages during severe convective weather.

This autumn, to address external damages to transmission lines caused by large-scale urban construction projects, particularly the risk of such damage posed by large-scale construction machinery during nighttime operations, the company installed "solar warning lights" on high-voltage lines within the construction site. These warning lights are suspended and mounted on overhead transmission and distribution lines as well as towers. At night, the lights automatically illuminate and flash in a regular pattern, alerting passing personnel and vehicles to be cautious for safety and to prevent wire contact or collision accidents.
