Jiaozuo, Henan: Power companies committed to keeping people safe from fire hazards

On Oct 28, power supply staff of the State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company examined the electrical safety of high-rise residential cable shafts and user sides in a high-rise residential community in Jiaozuo city, Henan province. They found that there were obvious electrical safety hazards such as the stacking of debris in the cable shaft, "flying wire charging" of electric vehicles and aging of some user lines. They immediately issued a rectification notice to the community property to help the property formulate practical rectification measures and provide technical services.

In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standards, electricity consumption has continued to increase, including fire accidents caused by inadequate safety protection of power facilities. In response to this problem, the State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company launched a special action around power grid equipment, high-rise building cable shafts and user-side electrical safety to effectively prevent electrical fires. In the process of checking hidden dangers, they actively promoted the resolution of hidden dangers to ensure that it is eliminated in a timely and planned manner.

On the other hand, the company focused on checking the power supply capacity, power supply mode, load characteristics, equipment operation and maintenance of transformers in residential areas. For newly built residential areas and high-rise buildings, the State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company conducted on-site surveys and prepared feasibility studies before implementing the distribution network transformation project. In the event there is a necessity to relocate power facilities, the relocation plan will be reviewed for effective coordination of solutions.

In addition, the company has increased its publicity efforts to create awareness on electricity and fire protection to enterprises, residents and merchants. Since the beginning of this year, the company has purchased 11,041 sets of fire extinguishing devices, 44,338 leakage protectors, 4,395 metering boxes, sealed 5,424 holes, and dispatched 2,300 safety management personnel.
