The Shandong Port Group (SPG) Integrated Supply Chain Service Customer Exchange Meeting and the SPG South America Representative Office Unveiling Ceremony kicked off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on the morning of Nov 12, local time. 

This marks SPG's first visit to Brazil, representing a significant move by the company to engage with South American countries and BRICS countries and serve South-South cooperation by leveraging its role as a gateway, hub and window. 

The event attracted nearly 30 participants from Brazilian business associations and the port and shipping, trade, logistics, finance and mining industries.

This representative office in South America is the sixth overseas office established by SPG this year, following the ones in South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, Serbia, and Egypt. The launch of the overseas branch is a milestone in SPG's global expansion, highlighting the group's continuous efforts to expand its international network. 

During the event, SPG Overseas Development Group and SPG Trading Group signed strategic cooperation agreements with local enterprises. These agreements aim to leverage each party's resource advantages to achieve the efficient integration of port, shipping, logistics and trade, thereby creating a more convenient, streamlined, high-quality, and efficient full-range logistics channel for economic and trade exchanges between China and Brazil.

Maritime traffic between SPG and ports in Brazil is increasing, with the annual container traffic exceeding 200,000 twenty-foot equivalent units, iron ore volume surpassing 60 million metric tons and crude oil and grain volume exceeding 16 million tons. In addition, SPG has already established comprehensive business collaboration with leading Brazilian enterprises such as Vale of Brazil and Petrobras.
