International ocean-themed conference to commence in Qingdao

The First Ocean Decade International Coastal Cities Conference is set to take place in Qingdao West Coast New Area from Feb 25 to 27.

With the tagline "Better Ocean, Better City", the conference will gather nearly 400 global high-level dignitaries from the marine sector to delve into crucial topics such as climate change mitigation, marine ecosystem management and the advancement of the blue economy. Deep discussions will be held on the development of ocean cities in an effort to drive pragmatic, international collaboration in the marine domain.

The conference, featuring "Ocean Decade" Qingdao Night, an opening ceremony, themed sessions, and a closing ceremony, will cover a spectrum of cutting-edge international marine issues such as marine city resilience, tsunami disaster preparedness, marine spatial planning, and marine biodiversity conservation.

Moreover, it will host specialized discussions to explore the common challenges and solutions for the sustainable development of global ocean cities. Sustainable development cases from cities such as Mombasa in Kenya, Nice in France, and Qingdao West Coast New Area will be shared to showcase innovative practices and successful experiences in marine environmental conservation and platform development. These examples will serve as practical models for global ocean cities, propelling them towards a greener, more prosperous, and sustainable future.
