Siemens Healthineers expands Made-in-China product line for 2025

Siemens Healthineers, a German health technology company, plans to launch around 20 Made-in-China new products in the fiscal year 2025, said Jerry Wang, president of Siemens Healthineers Greater China.

During a media interview on Monday, ahead of the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) in Shanghai, Wang who is also a member of Siemens Healthineers global leadership committee, highlighted that the company has localized its entire product line, including high-end and ultra-high-end products.

"Siemens Healthineers' continuous increase in R&D and production in China is our insight into the potential of the Chinese market and our response to the future trend of the global healthcare industry. It also reflects our strategic determination to deeply participate in the high-quality development of China's healthcare industry," said Wang.

In January, Siemens Healthineers' new high-end medical device R&D and production base in Shenzhen city, Guangdong province, which involves an investment of over 1 billion yuan ($136 million), broke ground.

Upon completion, the new facility will run in conjunction with the existing base in Shenzhen, which was established in 2002, to achieve synergy. Their combined size is projected to triple from what it is today.

At the ongoing CMEF, Siemens Healthineers is showcasing its latest localized high-end products, including the world's first magnetic resonance MAGNETOM Flow, which only requires 0.7 liters of liquid helium; Ultra-high field 7T magnetic resonance MAGNETOM Terra.X and domestic top flagship ultrasound system ACUSON Sequoia Silver.

In addition to the localization of the entire product line, Siemens Healthineers said it was also the first multinational medical device company to put core components in China for production.

The magnetic resonance MAGNETOM Flow on display is equipped with the company's newly released DryCool innovative superconducting magnet. The magnet has already been integrated into the company's manufacturing system in China and will be manufactured at the new base in Shenzhen.

"Through the upgrading of the entire industry chain, Siemens Healthineers aims to help China's high-end manufacturing integrate into the global value chain system, contributing Chinese wisdom to the development of global high-end medical device," said Wang.

The "AI Factory" is a highlight of Siemens Healthineers, a global pioneer in the field of AI in medical imaging, during CMEF. The company said it has more than 2 billion high-quality medical data and 350 algorithm experts around the world and completes more than 1,600 AI experiments per day in two supercomputing centers in the United States and China.
