Lithium titanate battery wins gold at Geneva Exhibition
The State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Research Institute has won a gold medal at the 50th Geneva International Invention Exhibition for its "Innovation of lithium titanate battery in high power applications," organizers announced on Sunday.
The new lithium titanate battery can operate in the ambient temperature range from -50℃ to 60℃, with the cycle life reaching 30,000 times, which is doubled compared to mainstream products presently in the market (15,000 times). The power generation ratio has also increased by 67 percent, it said, adding that related products and technologies have been successfully promoted in rail transit, ports, aerospace and other fields. The first batch of domestic hybrid diesel locomotives and the world's first new energy mining vehicles have also used the new lithium titanate battery, it added.
The Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions was founded in 1973 and is held annually. It is one of the world's three major invention exhibitions and is also one of the world's longest and largest invention exhibitions.
The exhibition attracted nearly 1050 participating projects from inventors, universities, institutions and companies from about 35 countries and regions around the world.
