Chongqing, Sichuan boost collaboration in intelligent connected NEV industry

Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing and Tianfu New Area in Chengdu, Sichuan province, are spearheading efforts to develop a hub for the intelligent connected new energy vehicle (NEV) industry. This initiative has been recognized as one of the top 10 innovative cases for collaborative development within the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. 

The Sichuan-Chongqing region has emerged as China's third-largest automotive industry cluster, with 45 vehicle manufacturers and over 1,600 suppliers. In Chengdu, Huachuan Denso Co produces electric motors for NEVs, which are sent to Chongqing's Chang'an Automobile plant for assembly. Concurrently, Liangjiang supplies components from companies like TKAS Auto Steel Co and Yanfeng Automotive to major automakers such as Volkswagen, Volvo, and Geely in Chengdu. 

By the end of last year, the region had attracted over 600 intelligent connected NEV component companies and nearly 300 automotive software firms, achieving comprehensive coverage of three major systems, 12 assemblies, and 56 components related to intelligent connected NEVs. 

Liangjiang and Tianfu have established flagship alliances across eight major industries, including automotive manufacturing. These alliances bring together over 90 leading enterprises and more than 1,000 member companies. Regular activities such as entrepreneur salons, alliance meetings, and supply-demand matchmaking events foster collaboration and drive the integration of complete vehicles and parts.

Chengdu's strength in electronic information and internet technology, combined with Chongqing's expertise in vehicle manufacturing, creates powerful synergy.
