Actor Jin Dong urges focus on authenticity over virality

Renowned Chinese actor Jin Dong called on creators to resist the lure of virality and instead prioritize authenticity and quality when he delivered a speech at the Forum on Fostering the Development of Art and Literature on Tuesday.

He criticized algorithm-driven trends and formulaic storytelling in content creation on short video platforms.

The forum is one of ten parallel sessions held under the Forum on Building up China's Cultural Strength 2025, which opened Monday in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province.
