'Feeling at Home · Journey to the East' event kicks off

The five-day activity titled Feeling at Home · Journey to the East, part of the 2025 Hubei Story Night, was unveiled in Wuhan city, Hubei province, on May 26.

Over a dozen foreign bloggers and international students from many countries, including France, Russia, Brazil and Vietnam gathered in Wuhan and strolled through the streets of Hankou at 4 pm on the first afternoon.

From the Russian-style Bagong House to the Former Residence of Zhan Tianyou, known as the "Father of China's railway", from the Ancient Tea Road to the century-old architectural complex of Xian'anfang, the visiting group explored the city's rich historical and cultural heritage through its architecture and neighborhoods, gaining a deep appreciation for Wuhan's strong cultural atmosphere.

In Hankou's historic district, the group had a chance encounter with the viral mascot "Garlic Bird (蒜鳥)" and learned their first phrase in the Wuhan dialect. Russian influencer Demizh humorously said in local dialect: "蒜鳥蒜鳥，都不涌易" (roughly meaning: "Forget it, it's not easy for anyone"), drawing laughs.

Everyone then shared slang expressions for "forget it" in their own languages, sparking a lively cultural exchange.

In the coming days, the delegation will continue their exploration, visiting landmarks like Yellow Crane Tower, the Hubei Provincial Museum, and the Dongfeng Voyah automotive factory.

These experiences will offer insights into both Hubei's profound cultural history and its dynamic innovation in science and technology.

Participants will document their journey through photos, articles, and vlogs, sharing their beautiful stories about Hubei with audiences around the world.

The event is guided by the Cyber Communication Bureau of the Cyberspace Administration of China and co-hosted by the Hubei Provincial Cyberspace Administration and China Daily Website. It is organized by Hubei Changjiang Cloud New Media Group.
