Guizhou's Axilixi grassland offers summer escape

The Axilixi grassland in in Hezhang county, Southwest China's Guizhou province has become a popular summer escape this July, drawing visitors with its rolling sea of clouds and crisp, cool weather.

Axilixi, meaning "everyone come together" in the local Yi language, is located about 40 kilometers from the nearest county seat.

At over 2,000 meters above sea level, this rare southern highland remains refreshingly cool even in the height of summer.

Vast plains dotted with grazing cattle and sheep stretch beneath an expansive sky, while wetlands, caves, sinkholes, and other untouched wonders await exploration.
