Spring Airlines receives first domestically-made A320 flight simulator

Spring Airlines received its first domestically-made A320 flight training simulator on Friday, July 18, in Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in the budget airline's efforts to enhance pilot training and operational safety, said the Shanghai-based airline company.

Jointly developed by Spring Airlines and Harbin Wright Brothers Technology Development Co Ltd, the simulator features a complete cockpit, rear cabin and visual system, capable of simulating up to 300 system failure scenarios. This allows for comprehensive training under normal, emergency and special conditions.

"Serving as an effective supplement to the full-motion simulator and start-up training equipment, the A320 flight training device can effectively improve the proficiency of pilots and reduce the training cost at the same time," said Shen Wei, vice-president of Spring Airlines.

"Spring Airlines invested 800 million yuan ($111 million) in building its own flight training base in 2014, and the seventh simulator to be delivered by the end of this year will help the airliner meet the flight capability training of more than 2,000 pilots," said Wang Zhijie, president of Spring Airlines.

According to Wang, the pilot team was fully engaged in the validation and optimization of flight procedures, and the pilots' experience has helped make the design of the facility more accurate and efficient.
