Heilongjiang boosts farming with digital innovation

In recent years, Heilongjiang province has focused on scientific and technological innovation to improve its agricultural practices.

At No 856 Company of Beidahuang Group, a large State-owned enterprise, farmers have taken advantage of new digital technology to boost grain output and contribute to efforts to guarantee national food security.

The farm has constructed a 2,300-square-meter Digital Agriculture Command Center with 12 functional modules, including machinery management and meteorological services, and 53 new sets of smart irrigation and weather monitoring equipment. The newly developed digital platform manages the entire workflow from land use to planting decisions.

Additionally, two mobile apps have been launched, through which farmers can remotely control irrigation drones and fertilization equipment at home.

Intelligent operations have been applied across around 1,333 hectares of land that use remote satellite sensing and Internet of Things technology for real-time crop monitoring.

In 2024, the farm achieved a total grain output of 583,000 metric tons, marking its 21st consecutive year of bumper harvests.

The highest recorded rice yield surpassed 11.8 tons per hectare, while the soybean yield reached about 4.6 tons per hectare, both setting new records.

The farm's upgraded agricultural infrastructure has reached a comprehensive mechanization rate of 99.7 percent.
