Macao employment steady in Q2: census service
MACAO -- The labor market of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) remained stable in the second quarter of 2025, with the general unemployment rate holding at 1.9 percent and the residents' rate at 2.5 percent, according to the SAR's Statistics and Census Service on Thursday.
Total employment rose by 900 to 372,700, while employed residents increased by 1,400 to 281,600, the service showed. Notable job gains were observed in the transport and storage sector and the construction sector, while employment in hotels, restaurants, and similar activities decreased.
In terms of earnings, statistics indicated that overall median earnings dropped by 1,000 patacas to 17,800 patacas, and by 1,500 patacas to 20,000 patacas for employed residents.
